A student here at Taft High has continuously stood out above the rest for his passion for photography. Jonah Armstrong, a senior, is an active member of journalism and of the yearbook. He’s well known for his outstanding photography and for his writing skills. He enjoys, “…telling stories through pictures,” and he believes, “…pictures are more impactful than writing.” He values the picture more than the actual words of the story.

Pictures convey the emotions of the story. They are what make or break a story, and are one of the most crucial parts. Jonah knows that there are, “people counting on me and have high expectations. I try to meet those expectations.” Instead of cracking under the pressure, Jonah thrives off of it and uses it as fuel to excel and achieve the goals he sets for himself.

After high school, he wants to, “…go to Taft College and take photojournalism classes, and any other classes in photography or design.” He eventually wants to find a, “…job in the photography industry–maybe as a wedding photographer or possibly in the news.” One of the many benefits of going into this field is the variety of options you have. The future is looking bright for Jonah Armstrong. As his time as a Taft High student is coming to an end, new doors are being opened for him. We all wish him well on his photojournalistic journey.
