The dancers performed to the beat of the drum for the students. Representing their tribe with their colors.

Foods class had an eventful day filled with new experiences on November 16, 2018. The foods class teacher Carlos Chavira was the one who put together the event. His goal is to, “expose students to other cultures this year.”

Students and Chavira worked together cooking and setting up the tables. The Tejon Indian Tribe told students of their tribe’s history and the struggles they have faced. They also had the young children of their tribe perform a dance for foods students while they ate the food that was prepared. Foods students Breeanna Zellner “…enjoyed watching the little girls from the tribe dance, and I liked learning about their culture. I also enjoyed eating the food we prepared.” The students will be having more activities like this one as the school year goes on.
