On Friday the 13th, Taft High Choir put on their annual dinner theater racking up around $650 in ticket sales after the substitution of food costs. Proceeds from the event will be going toward awards for the end of the year and next year’s tour. The dinner was held in the TUHS cafeteria with tickets for sale at $15. Dinner started with a salad and the main course was lasagna made by Amanda Locke herself. Students served drinks and kept the guest entertained with their music.

Singers of the night went as follows: Harmony Hartzell with “Mr. Postman,” Ayrieann Buchanan with “Lay Me Down,” Hannah Covington and Marcos Alfaro with “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” Shayla Bienvenu with “Let It Be,” Hannah Covington and Savanna Larosche with “Sisters,” Chloe Schwerdetfager with “Six Feet Under,” and Kaleb Hillan singing “Strawberry Fields Forever.”

Following these performances was a brief intermission allowing the students to prepare for the rest of the night. A special surprise song was dedicated to Harmony Hartzell’s mom, as it was her birthday. To carry on the acts was Sawyer Maier with the “Schmuel Song,” Kailee Barker singing “Lost Boy,” Marcos Alfaro featuring Savanna Larosche with “Popular,” Amanda Locke and Sawyer Maier with “Dear Theodosia,” and finally, concluding the night, singing “I Can Hear the Bells” was Kelsey Lichtenberger.

In the month of March, students in beginning and advanced choir sang “confidently” for the citizens of Taft. Locke commented that they had, “Made a lot of improvements in the weeks leading up to the concert.” Soloists of the night were performed by senior, Sawyer Maier and junior, Kaleb Hillan.

“Give My Regards to Broadway” is the upcoming concert on Tuesday, May 22nd, which will include classical and modern Broadway songs by both beginning and advanced choir students.
