The Varsity girls came in 14th place, from a 3 mile run, with an overall score of 443. Hannah Covington was in first place for the team with a time of 25:36.47. In second place was Kylie Campbell with a time of 26:57.63, and in third place was Kimberly Rivera with a score of 27:16.76. In fifth place was Yesica Guitron a time of 28:59.52 followed by Michele Flores, in sixth place, with a score of 29:02.99. Both our girls and boys cross country team tried their best to finish their miles in the fastest time possible.

Last Friday, the Wildcat cross country team competed at the BC Invite at the KC Soccer Complex near Hart Park. The 5K race include 6 complete boys teams and 7 complete girls teams. Nearly every TUHS athlete recorded their personal best time, which is a sign that we are gradually getting better from week to week.

The boys team, while finishing 5th out of 6 teams, was only 18 points out of 2nd place. This result also doesn’t take into account the fact that we were missing 2 of our top 7 athletes. Chase Cortez again led the team to a 9th place overall finish in 18:06. Marvin Gama (19:26), Omar Velasco (19:30) and Antonio Guzman (19:45) also medaled for TUHS, finishing in 23rd, 24th, and 30th respectively (top 30 overall earned medals).

The girls team showed the most promise with appearances from Macayla Wells and Bella Nuncio. Macayla, having never run 3 miles before, finished 12th overall with a time of 24:03. Bella was close behind, finishing in 19th place, only 24 seconds back. The girls team finished 6th out of 7 teams. Our next meet is at the Golden West Invite this Friday, where we hope to continue to improve our times.
