Weekly Sports Recap 1/6/20 – 1/12/20

This week in basketball, the boys varsity basketball team went head-to-head with Kennedy and Shafter this week. At home, Taft would have a disappointing loss to Kennedy 63-68. This loss started in the second quarter when Taft lost the lead and Kennedy took the lead with five points. Taft looked to regain momentum by defeating Shafter on Jan. 24.
On Friday, Taft eventually fell short to Shafter and lost 41-65. Taft held their own weight through the first half, only down 18-26. Shafter would pull away from Taft the second half by outscoring Taft 24-10 in the third and 15-13 in the fourth. The Taft High varsity looks to get their first league win this week playing McFarland at their home court.

Girls varsity basketball faced Kennedy and Shafter as well. Away at Kennedy, girls varsity won with a score of 35-25. On Friday, at home, varsity played Shafter, ultimately winning with a score of 45-25.

This week in Soccer, The boy’s varsity soccer team came up short against Caesar Chavez and Arvin. Meanwhile, they tied with Wasco in a 1-to-1 split decision.

On the other hand, the JV team lost 5-0 to Chavez.

The varsity girls this week won a game and lost a game; they beat Chavez by a score of 3-0.
