Strong start for girls golf

On September 12th, the girls’ golf team started their first match of the season at Delano. They played against the whole league; Arvin, Chavez, Kennedy, McFarland, Shafter, and Wasco in a 9 hole match. Wildcats placed first in the first match of the season. Head coach, Mike Cowan, was asked about what he was looking forward to this season he said, “We’re looking forward to improving our skills on the golf course and bringing home another SSL Championship like we did last year. We’re also looking forward to beating up on Shafter and Wasco.” Cowan said he has, “a small but dedicated team.” This year’s golf team consists of; Macayla Wells (#1), Briley Wheeler (#2), Tayler Portenga (#3), Willow Pilgrim, Jazmyn Chavira, Chloe Dodson, and Trenadee Price. They beat Wasco by 66 shots or 11 shots per player.
