Three Cheers for Cheer
Going into yet another exciting football season, the school spirit this year’s wildcat cheerleaders are showing is truly inspiring. Taft High’s cheer coach, Mrs. Kelly Morris, has been coaching for 7 to 8 years now; starting when she was in high school and continuing later on in her life. Morris’s goals for her team this year include bringing the team together as a family, lifting the school’s spirits and having a blast while doing it.
Assistant varsity coach, Roia Schock, helps Morris choreograph routines, teach cheers and just helps the girls out. As Varsity Captain Kilie Odle mentioned, “No matter the score, our job is to keep the school and the football boys’ spirits high and their smiles wide. We’ve come up with several different chants and cheers this year and we’re determined to make sure TUHS doesn’t lose its pride.” The cheer team came up with a routine for the Alma Mater and the wildcat spell out and plan on using those at rallies and games to keep everyone loud and upbeat.
