Baseball takes a piece or two of humble pie
The Taft varsity baseball team lost Wednesday’s home conference game April 24 against Chavez (Delano, CA) by a score of 12-4. Corbin Yaws, Chad Berry, Jackson Berry, and Reese Hammons were all up on the mound this game; they all had one appearance on the plate. Yaws pitched four innings with 23 batters faced and Jackson Berry pitched two innings with facing ten batters. Jackson Van Roekel, Skyler Self, Josh Green, and Jackson Berry all had a run. Skyler Self and Corbin Yaws both had two RBIs. Skyler Self also got an out-of-the-park home run in the bottom of the first inning.
The Taft varsity baseball team also lost Friday’s home conference game April 26 against rival school Wasco (CA) by a score of 12-5. During the game, the Wasco pitcher had 120 pitches, which is normally over the pitch count, but Coach Davis fought against it until we all later found out that intentional walks do not count. So, in the end, the boys took a tough loss and went on to play against the Arvin Bears on Wednesday with results to come.
