Hillan and Golling move on to Valley
This past Saturday, April 27, 2019, TUHS a handful of athletes from our TUHS swim team competed at the Kern County Varsity League Championships held at Garces Memorial High School. The SSL results for our Taft High swimmers were outstanding:
Breann Bracken placed 2nd in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:14.26 and 3rd in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:15.95.
Kenzie Cloud came in 8th place in the 50-yard freestyle with 35.49 and 5th place in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:51.02.
Aiden Ginther made 3rd in the 50-meter freestyle with 27.29 and 7th in the 100 freestyle with 1:02.95.
Ryan Hickernell placed 1st in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 24.25 and 1st in the 100-meter freestyle with 54.24.
Kaleb Hillan placed first in SSL in the 1-meter diving.
Jake Johnson came in 5th in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:54.24 and 6th in the 100-meter freestyle with 1:02.70.
Zane Martin got 7th place in the 200-yard freestyle with 2:46.09 and 4th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:23.66
Daniel Velarde came in 5th in the 100-meter butterfly with 1:13.52 and 3rd in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:17.43.
Callie White placed 4th in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 3:08.78 and 3rd in the 100-yard backstroke with 1:23.10.
The boys 200-yard freestyle relay made up of Ryan Hickernell, Aiden Ginther, Jake Johnson, and Daniel Velarde came in 2nd place.
Ryan Hickernell, Zane Martin, and Daniel Velarde competed in the boys 400-meter freestyle relay and placed 3rd.
One of the team members, Presley Golling, was not at the league championships due to being with the TUHS Drumline competing at ADLA finals at Azusa Pacific University. He is the top-scoring swimmer for the season.
This week, two athletes from the swim and dive team will be competing at Valley Championships. Kaleb Hillan is competing at the Valley Diving Championships on Thursday, May 2, 2019. The following day, May 3, 2019, Presley Golling will be competing at the Valley Swimming Championships. Both events will be held at the Clovis West High School Olympic Swim Complex.
