Taft High varsity boys tennis Lynch Cup results

The Taft High varsity Tennis team competed March 16 in the 25-team Lynch Cup Tournament.  There were 5 divisions with Division 1 having the 5 best teams, Division 2 was teams seeded 6-10, Division 3 was teams seeded 11-15, Division 4 was teams seeded 16-20, and Division 5 was the bottom 5 teams.  Taft was placed in Division 2 with Centennial, Frontier, North High, and West High.

Taft competed very well by beating North and Frontier by a score of 4-2.  The matches consisted of 3 singles teams, and 3 doubles teams. Taft tied Centennial in their match at 3-3, but lost the match due to the number of sets won(6-7).  Taft also tied West at 3-3, but lost the match due to the number of games won (56-61). In the West match, Taft could have won the division, but lost a heart breaker in #3 doubles in a third set tiebreaker.

The final pool standings were West 4-0,Centennial 3-1, Taft 2-2, Frontier  1-3, and North 0-4.

Individually, Rudolpho Magana at #2 Singles, Tyler Ngyuen at #3 singles, and German Mejia and Bryson Ginn at #2 doubles went undefeated in the four rounds of play in the tournament.  Taft was 9-2 overall, and 6-0 in the SSL after this match.
