Taft high varsity boys tennis defeat Arvin 9-0

On Tuesday, March 12, at Taft, the boys varsity tennis team beat Arvin 9-0.  This was the final match of the first round of league play. Taft opens the second round of league play against RFK at Taft on Thursday.

Taft won all six singles matches, but Taft’s #2 player, Rudolpho Magana, and Taft’s #6 player Louis Moncodo, won in a third set tiebreaker. In the other singles matches, Brian Rivera, Tyler Ngyuen, Bryson Ginn, and Jordan Miranda all win easily in straight sets.

In Doubles, #1 Tyler Ngyuen and Rudolpho Magana won 6-1, 6-1.  Bryson Ginn and Antonio Guzman won 6-1, 6-2, at #2 doubles. Juan Guerro and German Mejia won easily at #3 doubles 6-3, 6-2.  The overall record for Taft is 6-0 for the season, and 5-0 in the SSL.

Taft is playing in the Lych Cup on Friday March 15 and Saturday March 16.  They are in Pool 2 out of 5 pools. They will play round robin play against four opponents.  On Friday, they play Delano and Centennial. On Saturday, they will finish pool play against North High and West High.
