Baseball tournament at Morro Bay

The Taft Union High School JV and varsity baseball teams traveled to Morro Bay to compete in a double header against the Pirates. The first game for the JV team was an even match with the game tying 5-5 with Anthonie Adams, Garrett Jeffries, John Bernard, and Kristopher Downey having a  batting average of .500 during the first game. Their second game was a hard-fought game until the very end where they gave up their three-run lead by allowing five runs to occur in the last inning with Taft losing 12-10. Jason Woodards commented on his teams performance saying, “We made careless errors and didn’t play to our full potential.”

The varsity team played an even match with the score being 0-0 all the way up until the 6th inning. Logun Clark and Chad Berry both had an R.B.I. in the 6th inning with Jackson Van Roekel and Skyler Self both scoring to help their team win the first game against the Pirates 2-1. Their second game, however, was the complete opposite with the Pirates starting off the game with a 6-1 lead. The Wildcats couldn’t contain keeping up with the game ending in a blowout score of 11-1 with the varsity baseball team earning their first loss of the season. The JV team now has an overall record of 7-4-1 with the varsity having a very impressive record of 11-1.
