During the first round of the playoffs, Dylan Self prepares to drive and score to help lead his team to a victory at home.

Taft boys basketball won a well fought game against Coalinga Wednesday, Feb. 13 for the first round of the playoffs.

The first quarter was an even match with the score being 14-12 with Taft losing. The second quarter ended with Taft outscoring the Horned Toads 16-11 with Taft taking the lead with the score being 28-24 heading into the second half. Taft kept the intensity going into the third quarter by outscoring Coalinga by five.

Coalinga started to steadily comeback in last few minutes cutting the lead to within five points with a minute left. Taft came out of a time out determined not to let their season end. TUHS boys basketball beat the Horned Toads with a score of 63-55. This win gave them an undefeated record at home. Taft will now advance on to the second round of the playoffs where they will face Foothill on Friday at Foothill High School.
