In an intense game against the Titans, Dylan Self hits a three pointer to help lead his team to an important win.

On Jan. 31, the TUHS boys basketball team faced the undefeated Cesar Chavez Titans. In their last matchup, Chavez defeated TUHS varsity team taking first place in league. This anticipated game at home for the Wildcats would make or break their season. If they won, they would get a chance to tie Chavez for first place. The game started off neck-and-neck, ending the first quarter with a score of 15-16 with Taft right behind then. They ended the first half with a score of 37-30 with Taft in the lead. Taft came out hot, ending the third quarter with a comfortable lead of 52-39. The last few minutes of the game were the most intense due to Cesar Chavez coming back cutting the lead to three. Connor Mcafee made a fast-break lay-up and a free throw to give the ‘Cats a cushion. At the buzzer, Dylan Self, who ended the game with 25 Points, dunked the ball to end the game with a score of  69-62. This victory for Taft gives them a a fighting chance to get first in league for the first time in 29 years, but first they would have to also win their last two games against Wasco at home on Feb. 4 and against Arvin at Arvin on Feb. 5.
