Boys Varsity basketball competed in the Santa Maria tournament over Winter break on Dec. 27 through Dec. 29. They played the very first game of the tournament on Thursday morning against Lompoc. Throughout the entire game, it was neck and neck until the very end where TUHS won by a score of 59-56. The varsity boys basketball team had two games the very next day where they faced off against Sierra Pacific and Morro Bay. They trampled over Sierra Pacific winning the game 74-56. Their game against Morro Bay was a familiar sight where they won 70-59. These three wins put Taft in the championship game against Mira Monte the next day. The championship game started off neck and neck until around the third quarter. The Mira Monte Lions blew by Taft beating them 77-58. Their impressive run throughout the tournament ended in heartbreak giving TUHS Boys basketball team an overall record of  10-5.
