Taft JV blows out McFarland

The win against McFarland was a walk in the park for Taft. The Wildcats now improve to 3-0 in league and 4-1 overall.

To start the game off, Jackson Berry went 22 yards for a touchdown with 6:40 left in the first quarter to make the score 7-0.

After stopping the Cougars on the 15-yard line, McFarland punted it away where Chad Berry picked the ball up and ran 41-yards for a touchdown; it was called back due to a penalty.

Bryce Veach, Jackson Berry, and Chad Berry are all able to score touchdowns before the first quarter ended to make it 27-0 going into the second quarter.

With 6:04 left in the second quarter, Taft’s kicker No. 11 Caleb Guzman was able to kick a field goal 31 yards to extend the lead 30-0.

With 2 minutes left in the second quarter, quarterback Walker Maino ran in a 7-yard touchdown to increase the score 37-0.

The second half did not get better for the Cougars, Christopher Downey returned the opening kickoff 82-yards for a touchdown to make the score 44-0 for the Wildcats.

The final score was 47-0, Bryce Veach knew they were the better team going into the game, “We had a hard week of practice and were focused, I don’t think they were by the outcome of the game.”
