Taft Edge’s Out Win
Coming off a home win against RFK gave the Taft Wildcats some confidence that they needed going into this away game against Shafter. The varsity volleyball team won in five sets on Oct. 2.
In the first set, Shafter was barely able to pull away with a score of 28-26. Taft, in the next series, was able to seal the set 25-20. As the ‘Cats tried and fight back in set three. They, unfortunately, dropped it 25-21. The Wildcats were able to take the last two sets in scores of 25-20 and 15-12.
Mariah Nevarez had an outstanding game, leading Taft in digs with 39. Bree Johansen added 11, while Rylee Mizener had 10.
Reagan Hamilton had 12 kills for the Wildcats while Rylee Mizener was able to add 10.
Freshmen Breann Bracken led the ‘Cats with 6 aces, and Johansen had 4 aces.
