For the second year straight, the women’s team brought home the Division 2 Valley Championship title on May 9, 2018. According to Mr. Newton, “It was a stressful but exciting day for the track and field team.” There were many outstanding performances from our athletes. The TUHS women’s team was “neck and neck with powerhouse McFarland all day long.” The competition went back and forth with one leading after each race for the women’s team. “They would go and get 15 points in the 1600m, then we would turn around and get 15 points in the 100m hurdles.” The field events gave the TUHS women’s team an advantage. “Freshman Macayla Wells won triple jump and the 100 meter hurdles. She also surprised Pole Vaulting powerhouse Sierra High School, by getting 2nd place in the event by tying her own school record of 9’6”.” Sophomore, Bree Johansen “broke her own school record in the 200 meter dash.” Senior, Caitlin Bailey, “PR’d and won the high jump with a jump of 5’6″.” These girls worked hard for what the accomplished that day. Some of the athletes would have multiple events at the same time, for example, Caitlin Bailey won high jump, “after she ran her best 300m hurdle race of the season.” Senior, Haley Pulido, “PR’d in the shot put and tied for 5th place overall.” Mr. Newton said, “If you see any of these girls please congratulate them.” There were many outstanding performances from our athletes and their records are listed below.
