Taft had the home field advantage against Bakersfield last Monday. Aside from scorching weather and heat causing fatigue, Taft pulled out a win over the Eagles. In the first inning, the Eagles could not manage to get a runner on base against Taft’s unstoppable defense. Unlike the Eagles, Taft came out hot and scored in the first inning. In the second inning, Bakersfield yet again had trouble on the offensive side. The Eagles got two runners on base but could not bring them in. Taft was able to make key stops and defensive plays against the Eagles that allowed Taft to keep their 1-0 lead. By the 5th inning, Taft had pulled ahead 7-1. In the 7th inning however, Bakersfield gave Taft a comeback scare by scoring four points before finally being stopped. The final score of the game was 8-5 in favor of Taft.

The very next day, Taft played Arvin in another league matchup. Taft came out of the gates swinging as they scored four runs in the very first inning. Arvin’s defense could not hold strong against Taft as they continued to score on Arvin. The final score of the game was 19-0 in favor of Taft.

On Friday the 13th, the Taft Wildcats played their rival, The Wasco Tigers. The game was very close, as Taft and Wasco seemingly went run-for-run. The very last inning, Wasco scored two runs to seal the victory over Taft. Wasco beat Taft, 10-8.
