Last Friday, Taft High’s swim and dive teams had their first scrimmage of the season. What was supposed to be an away meet at Bakersfield College became a match here at Taft with competitors from East Bakersfield and Stockdale High School. Swimmers and divers warmed up and soon the meet was underway. Throughout the events, swimmers huddled together to beat the cold temperature and stay warmed up for their races. Halfway through the events, six divers from Taft and two divers from Stockdale showed what they had been learning. Points nor awards were given as it was a scrimmage for the junior varsity and varsity swimmers. Students experienced a taste of what to be expected in upcoming meets.
