On Monday the 29th, the Lady ‘Cats lost to BCHS with scores of 46-55. Taft’s Reagan Hamilton managed to score 19 points for the Wildcats. Kyleigh Phillips made 8 points, while Alana Iotamo made 7 and Haley Pulido scored 6. Sophomore Morgan Pulido, sister of Haley Pulido, had 3 points for Taft. Even after all of this scoring, the girls took an unsuccessful loss against BCHS.

On Tuesday the 30th, The Lady ‘Cats received another unfavorable loss at home when they played the Wasco Tigers. The overall score was 46-39. As Reagan Hamilton helped Taft’s score raise by 12 in the first quarter, Morgan Pulido also gained 10 points for the Wildcats. Alana Iatomo bumped up the score with her 7 overall points and Sierra Kozloski added to our score, as well, with her 4 points. Additionally, Cherise Strong tallied 3 points, Haley Pulido scored 2, and Kyleigh Phillips made 1 basket for the Lady ‘Cats. Toward the last quarter, the girls began to feel discouraged and lost their hope in obtaining a win. A few players took their loss to heart and Reagan Hamilton said, “I’m tired of working so hard at practice and getting nowhere.” A few tears were shed after Tuesday’s harsh game.

Finally, the Wildcats travelled again to Shafter on Thursday, February 1st. The girls underestimated the Generals’ abilities when they stepped on the court. They had practiced hard on Wednesday for this game and played more confidently in the first half of the game together as a team. Although the Generals started to catch up on the score, after half-time the Lady ‘Cats still played tough together and did their best to keep their heads up with good attitudes of winning. As the game finished, the score resulted in 48-30. The Wildcats gathered together to talk about the bad game choices and the better ones to practice and prepare for their home game the next week.

The Lady ‘Cats said that they are ready to move forward and start a fresh week of basketball and hope to see some wins in their future, and they would like to obtain these as a team.
