Volleyball Ends Season Strong

Tuesday night, the Lady Wildcats played Dos Palos on their home court. The atmosphere inside of the gym was deeply intense, as every Wildcat warmed up for their division IV playoff game. After both teams had warmed up and all the players were announced, the much anticipated matchup between Taft, and Dos Palos, had begun. From the start, the game was a battle as Taft and Dos Palos went point-for-point until the score was 5-5. Dos Palos then pulled away with two well-placed kills making it 7-5. The Lady Wildcats then came back with two great blocks from Seniors, Brooklyn Yaws and Sarah Lopez, tying the score at 7-7.  Dos Palos showed their determination and pulled ahead until the score was 11-7. Although the Lady Wildcats were at a disadvantage, their will to win was stronger, as Taft came back making the score 14-11. After this comeback; however, Taft hit a rough patch and Dos Palos stole the lead making it 18-14. From this point on, the Lady Wildcats put up a tremendous fight, but could not pull ahead. Dos Palos won the first set 25-21.

The second set mirrored the first set, as Taft and Dos Palos went point for point, until the score was 25-22 in favor of Dos Palos. The third set sparked with intensity as the Lady Wildcats were determined not to lose again. Wasting no time, Taft pulled ahead 4-0. After this stellar start from Taft, Dos Palos showed no signs of giving up and battled back until the score was 6-4. The Lady Wildcats then called a timeout and quickly discussed different strategies they could use in order to win the set. The third set proved to be entertaining as Taft and Dos Palos went point-for-point until the score was 18-18. With only seven more points left in the third set, Taft called a timeout to strategize. Although the Lady Wildcats gave it their all, they lost the third set 26-24. The Taft volleyball team finished their season strong with an amazing record of 28-6-1.
