One Step Closer

Last night, the Varsity Ladycat volleyball team played an outstanding game full of heart, determination, and focus. The Lady Wildcats played Mira Monte in the division four volleyball quarterfinal playoff game. The night had intensity early on as the Taft Varsity volleyball team warmed up with their game faces on display. As the first set began, Taft broke out into an early lead against Mira Monte with back-to-back kills from Senior Captains, Sarah Lopez and Hunter Everson. Mira Monte showed their determination as they battled back furiously with the score being 9-9. After the score was tied 9-9, the Ladycats then showed their consistency and pulled ahead until the score was then 15-9. After the Ladycats gained this lead on Mira Monte, they stayed ahead until finally winning the first set, 25-15.

The second set, however, proved to be very taxing on the Lady Wildcats as they struggled early on. The Mira Monte Lions pulled ahead as the score was 5-0. The Lady Wildcats showed their will to win as they fought back and scored seven straight points in a row. After the great comeback from the Lady Wildcats, Taft and Mira Monte went point for point until the score was 15-15. Although the score was tied, Mira Monte showed their resiliency and pulled ahead until the score was 21-15. The Lady Wildcats then called a timeout and found the will to battle back until the score was 21-21. The Taft High Volleyball team pulled through and won the second set 25-21.

The third set followed much of the same path as the second set and, in the end, the Lady Wildcats won 25-19. Overall, the Varsity Lady Wildcats are now 28-5-1. The Lady Wildcats play Dos Palos at home on Tuesday in the semi-final game. The Varsity Lady Wildcat Volleyball team is now one step closer to winning the Valley Championship.
