Cross Country Achieves Great Success
The Wildcat Cross Country team participated in the “Reedley Cam Ostrand Invitational” last Thursday, and had great success. The JV boys placed 2nd overall in the team standings, led again by Freshman phenom Chase Cortez. Cortez placed second by a mere one second interval over the 3-mile course in a personal best time of 17:35. Teammates Marvin Gama and Adrian Luna were not far behind in 8th and 9th place, completing the course in 18:34, and 18:35 respectively. Rounding out the top 5 scorers were Antonio Guzman and Omar Velasco, in 13th and 17th place. The team score of 45 points was second to Clovis West’s 28 points. In the girls’ race, Junior standout Bella Nuncio, completed the 3-mile course in 24:03 to finish 6th overall. The girls team did not qualify for team scoring, with only 3 runners present. Hannah Covington (25:40) and Kylie Campbell (27:30) rounded out the girls team. The team will compete at the “Apache Invitational” in Arcadia, CA next Friday.
