Tuesday night, the Taft High Ladycats continued to show their profound dominance by defeating the Arvin Bears 3-0. Although Taft may have swept the Bears, their dominance did not come without trial and fault. In the first set, the Ladycats pulled away with a healthy lead of 6-0 until the Bears finally scored a point off of a well-placed tip. After the score was 6-1 in the Wildcats favor, the Wildcat Varsity Volleyball girls pulled away until the final score of the first set was 25-16. However, the second set did not go as smoothly. In the beginning of the second set, the Wildcats and the Bears went point for point until the score was 4-4. The Bears then captured the lead until the score was 12-8 in the Bears’ favor.

The Varsity Wildcat Girls showed their determination as Sarah Lopez and Alyssa Reeves went back to back with exquisite kills to tie the score 12-12. After the score was 12-12, the Bears and the Wildcats fought intensely until the score was 23-23. In order to win the set, you must win by at least 2 points. With that being said, the second set was a nail-biter as the Bears and Wildcats struggled to obtain the final points needed to win the set as they were tied at 29-29. The Ladycats dug deep and found the inspiration they needed and ended up winning the set 31-29. The third set was less intense as the Varsity Wildcat Girls won 25-12. Our Wildcats Varsity Volleyball girls are now currently 4-1 in league.
