Wildcats Playing Each Game With Heart
The Taft Union High School Varsity Football Team has been playing with determination and heart. Last Friday night, the Taft Wildcats played the Exeter Monarchs in Lindsay, California.The Taft Varsity Football Team went into this game with a record of 0-2. The game escalated quickly as the Monarchs scored on their second drive of the game. The Wildcat Offense answered back and drove the ball all the way down to Exeters 20-yard line but did not prevail. Exeter then scored again on a 33-yard pass to their tight end. This time, Taft answered back quickly as Taft’s very own Fano Maui scored on a 14-yard run into the endzone.
The Varsity Football game went into halftime with the score of 21-6. Early into the third quarter, the Monarchs scored again on a 62-yard run by their tailback. Taft’s defense then answered back with two defensive stops on the next two drives. The game ended with a score of 42-20 in Exeter’s favor.
Even though the team lost 20-49, they struggled rigorously through many attempts to defeat the Monarchs; it was to no avail. The team still fought hard throughout the game. After a difficult start, the Wildcats tried to get a foothold.They held off as long as they could. They may have lost this game but, nevertheless, they kept running onto that field and gave it their all. Offense ran some great plays this game and got to score in the fourth quarter. Monarchs tried to keep them from scoring, but they couldn’t stop our Wildcats from diving into the endzone.The team worked together and really connected by the end of the game. The Wildcats may have lost, but they demonstrated their ability to fight hard and to get better.
