The JV Wildcat Football team demonstrated their ability to fight through adversity last Friday night as they played against Exeter. The Wildcats started off the first quarter strong as Coletin Hamblin ran for a 60-yard touchdown. Not only was the JV Wildcats offense strong, their defensive efforts allowed only one touchdown to be scored against them in the first half. The JV Wildcats came very close to scoring again, but the ball was fumbled on our 7 yard-line and Exeter recovered. The game then stayed tied until the third quarter when Exeter pulled ahead by a touchdown. The Taft JV Wildcats came back to tie the game also in the third quarter. With 11 seconds to go in the fourth quarter, Exter threw a deep pass and scored the game-winning touchdown.

Although we lost, other factors contributed to the loss as well. With that being said, their odds of winning were probably lowered due to the fact that their tailback/cornerback broke his collarbone during the game. At the beginning of the game, he achieved a 46-yard opening kickoff return before his accident.

Despite the defeat, JV Wildcats fought hard for the 14 points they earned against Exeter’s 19 points.
