BCHS is Hard to Beat
In a showdown between the two unbeaten girls’ tennis teams in the South Sequoia League, Bakersfield Christian beat Taft, 6-3, here Wednesday.
“Their one and two girls are the top players in the league and they are so deep that we could not catch up at the bottom,” Taft coach Jim Carnal said.
At No. 1 singles, Abigail Williams beat Leighton May, 6-1, 6-1. As she has done all season, Anabella McGilvary again beat her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. This time it was Diana Huizar. Taft earned its only point in singles when a determined Brisa Guizar beat Melody Bashirtash, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5). The Eagles’ Delaney Anderholt beat Dariana Calderon, 6-2, 6-4.
