Clayton Hamblin discussing the Oil Tech program with the freshmen of TUHS

Freshmen were able to go to Oil Tech Academy (OTA) classes on 1/17/2018, where they were able to learn about the kinds of opportunities they would receive if they joined the Oil Tech Academy. Oil Tech kids take A-G classes, plus have the opportunity to take honors and college concurrent courses. Students in Oil Tech are exposed to mentoring and job shadowing. They are also given the chance to explore careers through internships. The freshmen learned about the various aspects of Oil Tech. They were told about the application process. Many teachers and students talked to the freshmen who attended. Guest speaker, Taylor Unruh, talked to the students about how the academy helped him and what it has done for his life. Senior Clay Hamblin also talked to the freshmen and discussed how teachers and mentors helped him get into nine colleges, and he also discussed the skills he learned during the academy. Another thing that Oil Tech offers to their students is helping them find places to get community service.
