Jeb Burke and the rest of the seniors had lunch together in the auditorium. The shelter call was made during the senior class meeting.

On Wednesday January 22nd around 11:00, TUHS went into “shelter in place” for two periods when news of an acrolein chemical leak was reported. Anyone within a six-mile radius was told to evacuate. The school was safe and did a “shelter in place” procedure and escorted students to receive lunch and come back to where they were when it was called. KGET news reported, “According to data from the California Office of Emergency Services, a large container that had been shipped in from overseas was received in “leaking” condition by the Taft Manufacturing Co.” Around 1:19 pm it was confirmed that the source of the leak was stopped.
