Tesla’s Tower receives first place in PPAACC finals
Long practices, dedication, and hard work is what makes a Drumline win first place. The Drumline is in direction of Amanda and Vic Posey. This year’s show is Tesla’s Tower. Competing against nine other schools in their division, they still rose to the top. Working hard to always improve the show, Nicholas Castillo and Beau Gongora use their acting skills to portray the story. Castillo as Nikola Tesla tries to offer Beau Gongora playing J.P. Morgan his invention. While having a love for music, all performers showed their dedication by always being in the top three in PPAACC competitions. Senior Rebecca Cuevas said, “I was really excited to see our hard work recognized.” Winning first place allowed their hard work to finally be recognized. Tesla’s Tower was chosen this year because of an, “epic rap battle video.” Amanda Posey watched between Tesla and Edison. She thought Tesla was a great character for this year’s show, which led to some research about Wardenclyffe Tower and then to the creation of Tesla’s Tower. While being in Drumline for the past four years of high school, Ally Houghton said, “I am sad that it is over, but glad to have the best show as my last show.” The performers are all very dedicated to illustrate Tesla’s life and inventions. Starting off with a few mistakes, they perfected in all ways they could. Beau Gongora, otherwise known as J.P. Morgan said, “This show has progressed from sloppy to solid.” Showing how proud she is of her performers, Amanda Posey said, “This Drumline is not only great performers, but they are great people. Our practice time together has shown their love of music in the performance. They are winning because they love music and it shows.” The Journalism staff congrats the Drumline on receiving first place in their PPAACC finals.
