Coronavirus Pandemic

Lately a disease known as coronavirus (COVID-19) is making a impact on TUHS, Kern County, and the whole world. COVID-19 is  a “flu like” disease that causes respiratory issues, coughing, sore throat, and fever; however, the severity of these symptoms varies from person to person. To avoid getting COVID-19: 1. Try to avoid close contact, 2. Wash your hands regularly, 3. Avoid areas that could be infected, and 4. Try your hardest to avoid traveling. This mass spread of coronavirus affects us all, whether you realize it or not.

Sports, such as softball, baseball, track, golf, etc. have cancelled as to avoid further spreading of this disease, additionally, other trips have been cancelled such as the AVID trip. Furthermore, school will be closed for a period of time due to the virus (starting 3/18 at the end of the day until at least 4/14). When asking students about the lengths the school has gone to avoid the virus, the answers were almost unanimous. Cheyanne Landreth said, “It shouldn’t be taken as seriously as it is being taken.” Furthermore, Andrew Sanchez-Carrithers says,”it is good that we are taking precautions but it has gone to be way too extreme.” With that being said, stay safe, stay healthy, and when you can… stay home.
