2018 Taft Union High School Derricks are still available for purchase at the school’s business office, 701 Wildcat Way.

The yearbook features the theme Our Town, based on the Pulitizer prize-winning play by Thorton Wilder that juniors read in English class. “Our goal was to capture a year in the life of a small American high school and town, as Wilder did a century earlier,” said Jim Carnal, yearbook adviser and English teacher. “I think the photographs in this book are the best ever packaged in one Taft High yearbook. The cover art by Michael Antrim, using a drone, of the front of the school at night with the stadium lights and the red sunset over the mountains is spectacular. And, the theme developed by editor Hunter Everson celebrates the love residents feel for their hometown and the joys and sorrows in a single year.”

The yearbook costs $70 for students with an ASB sticker; $75 without.

“This book would make an excellent graduation gift for students to refer back to before reunions and just to reminisce,” Carnal said.
