Three of Taft Union High School’s star football players have been selected to play in the Army Bowl located at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA. Friday, May 4th at 7 p.m., Maino Maino, Zackorie Tuaila and Fano Maui will be playing on teams along with the rest of Kern County’s best selected football players. As senior Maino Maino said, “The Army Bowl is a game where you take the best of the best in Kern County and allow the players to play the last football game while they are in high school.” They place the players on separate teams of “black quad” and “gold squad” (Maino and Maui is on gold, and Tuaila is on black) and teach them different plays, workouts, and subject them to engage in new experiences with a sense of preparation. Maui stated, “Since the first day I entered high school, I’ve hoped to participate in this game. I hope to gain knowledge and experience as I get closer to the end of my senior year.” The Wildcats all agree that they wouldn’t want to represent any other school or play the game with anyone else. Go support your senior football stars this weekend, ‘Cats.
