A Special Night Honors our Students
Principal Mary Alice Finn welcomes the scholarship recipients on Honors Night.
On April 3, 2018, TUHS held their annual Honors Night for students who have been recognized and or have achieved a local scholarship. The highlight of the night was Baylee Pritchett, who received a $10,000 scholarship from the Horatio Alger Association; only 40 students in California received this honor with 615 students nationwide who were selected to receive this prestigious award. Pritchett plans to use the scholarships towards her tuition, fees, also for her room and board. Pritchett will begin college studies at Azusa Pacific University, which is located in Southern California and, while there, Baylee will be majoring in business management with an emphasis on human resources and minoring in psychology.

Taft High students such as Kort Bravo, Alondra Cisneros, Hunter Thomas, Alison Moon, Clayton Hamblin, and many other exceptional students were the recipients of local, academic, or community service scholarships. The families, community and TUHS seemed thankful for the programs and other pathways that have given theses honored students of Taft High a way to reach higher and go further in their education. Honored TUHS student Hunter Thomas had this to say about Honors Night, “It was such an amazing evening for all of us. Most of us who received scholarships last night are now able to pursue an education that was not once possible without surrounding ourselves with debt.” The community and local organizations showed our seniors how generous and caring they are.
