On the night of October 1st, Las Vegas and the rest of our country was shaken by a mass shooting that involved many deaths and even more injuries. Currently 500+ are injured and 58 are dead; there are many families who have been personally touched by this tragedy.

Taft High students and staff, with the knowledge that several people present during the shooting were from Taft and/or Kern County, are keeping their thoughts and hearts open. Campus Life and Human Element are two groups taking the first steps to help by holding a prayer group at lunch on Monday and by tying yellow ribbons attached with prayers to the trees surrounding Taft High’s campus. We will try to keep you updated as we learn more. If you hear of any ways students and staff can help, please share with us at [email protected] and we will help spread the word.
