Mr. English is sailing on
When Garrett English was hired at Taft High, he knew from the beginning that his position would not be secure as that was part of his contract. However short his stay at Taft High, he has left a lasting impact on the students he has taught and the teachers he has worked with, “He’s a funny, laid-back guy who loves baseball, smiles easily, and cares about the kids,” commented Lisa Polk. English was hired as collaborative learning teacher with five English classes and one science class. He partnered with different teachers such as Jim Carnal, Lisa Polk, Matthew Davis, and Ryan Heber.
English grew up in Bakersfield and attended Stockdale High. He is now married with two kids and enjoys spending his time sailing. As crazy as it sounds, he has sailed from San Francisco to Canada. English had previously worked with elementary kids and has decided that working in a high school is his forté.
