Skowron becomes professional retiree
Taft High’s very own David Skowron, the teacher of the Social Academic Independent Living Skills (S.A.I.L.S.) program, will be retiring at the end of the 2017-18 school year. Starting at Taft High in 2004, Skowron was hired as a Resource Specialist English teacher for junior and senior students.
One thing led to another, and he ended up doing what he does on campus today. He claimed that Kim Fields, the Campus Supervisor, is “his hero, and had the most impact on his career.” He also mentioned how much he will miss seeing Patty Gonzalez, an Instructional Aid at the school. “I’m happy that he finally gets to do what he wants, when he wants!” replied Patty when asked how she felt about Skowron retiring.
When asked what his plans were for retirement, he ironically remarked that as much as he enjoys interacting with students, he, “expects his stress level to drop precipitously.” Taft High is very blessed to have had a teacher like Skowron for 14 years, and he will definitely be a member of the T.U.H.S. family. To put it briefly, he will, “miss seeing light bulbs turn on above students’ heads.”
