On February 6th and 7th, the class of 2022 came to visit the Taft Union High School campus for placement tests in determining their classes in the following school year. This event was a “new branding of a familiar idea,” according to Mary Alice Finn, the principal of Taft High. Student organizations such as Link Crew, Human Element and the Associated Student Body (A.S.B.) welcomed students to the Mullen Gym and proceeded with separating the 8th graders and sending them to their assigned classrooms for testing.

After this, AVID presented themselves to the students in the auditorium in an attempt to recruit new members for the program. “This was a fun way to involve the new students and make them feel at home,” claimed Alyssa Reeves, a member of Human Element, which is advised by Mr. Reed. All in all, this was a refreshing way to welcome the incoming class while assessing them for next fall.
